Betting picks by sports bettors for sports bettors
The 2021 NFL Draft was one of the best drafts I can remember. It had everything! Trades, drama, players dropping, players rising, and shocking decisions getting everyone off of their feet.
The draft was extremely profitable for GamingToday mock drafters and we gave out two additional winners here last week. Overall, the mock draft was 16-12 with its best bets. Unfortunately, the Eagles spoiled Devonta Smith to the Giants +240 bet, trading ahead of the Giants to draft him.
With the draft over, there will be little NFL talk in the next several weeks. From here, we move on to the NBA playoffs which start in two weeks. The continuing of the MLB season as well as golf betting and the occasional UFC PPV!
Golf Bets: 2021 Wells Fargo Championship
I will not claim to be a golf expert — even if I do have an excellent short game — instead I will turn to our resident Golf Guru Bill Bowman. Bowman is an accomplished golf expert with over 10 years in the industry. We tailed his picks for the Masters in April and we were 2-0! Click here for the full Wells Fargo Championship breakdown!
Potential Contenders For The Wells Fargo Championship
Justin Thomas +1100
If betting a favorite, Bowman is confident in the number 2 player in the golfing world. Thomas struggled in the Masters last month — perhaps he could be more motivated than ever to compete for the win this weekend.
Rickie Fowler…? +6600
Fowler has been disappointing...we all know that. But Fowler has played pretty well at this course in the past. He is far from a lock, but at 66:1, this is a “why not” scenario. Worthy of a fraction of a unit bet.
Cameron Tringale +4000
“He has three top 15s in his last four events including a T-3 behind Burns at the Valspar. If he keeps knocking at the door, one of these week’s it’s got to open.” - Bill Bowman
All of these golfers have value to place inside the top 20. If you are more risk-averse, this could be the bet for you as well.
Big Movers: Money Flying In The Sports Betting Business
Bally’s Sports has completed their replacement of FOX Sports Regional Network. Bally’s Sports provides content for more than 25 professional sports teams. They are planning to launch a streaming service in 2022. It should be interesting to see how blackouts affect their business.
New Jersey is the biggest sports betting state in the country. However, you cannot bet on in-state college matches. That could change very shortly according to Rebecca Hanchett. At last, New Jersey is looking to take even more bets, this time on in-state collegiate sports like Rutgers football.
Sportsbook Promotions And Boosts For The Weekend
PointsBet Sportsbook is bringing back its $1,000 parlay competition this week. Last week’s winning parlay was a 12-leg +9600 parlay. That bettor won $1,000 in free bets as well as the parlay winnings. Competition ends tomorrow, minimum $1 parlay to qualify.
BetMGM Sportsbook is offering bettors a free $10 free bet when they bet $50 during the previous week. Max odds are -300. Opt-in is required and the $10 free bet is paid on Monday. It is available throughout the year!
DraftKings Sportsbook is giving a boxing promotion! Bet on Canelo Alvarez to win via KO/TKO boosted to +150. Opt-in is required on the promos page and there is a max bet for $25. Fight is on Saturday so be sure to make your bet before it expires!
Farewell William Hill Sportsbook; Big Ohio Sports Betting News
Take a picture — or a screenshot — it’ll last longer. William Hill Sportsbook’s days are numbered. Caesars Sports will take William Hill’s place in the fall of 2021. More on this fascinating story here.
Ohio is going with a very different strategy for sports betting in their state. They are attempting to legalize sports betting with two different licensing types. This would include allowing professional sports teams to develop their OWN sportsbooks and casinos allowed to operate mobile betting apps. I am fascinated to see how that would look. Fingers crossed the bill passes.
