NBA Playoffs, US Open Picks, Plus Sports Betting In AZ, OH, And MA
Betting picks by sports bettors for sports bettors
Two of the worst bad beats I’ve ever had occurred last week. The Brooklyn Nets lost Kyrie Irving, then lost a 17-point lead, then lost the game, making my bet on the Nets look like a load of hooey. Brittney Elkin had two 10-8 rounds against Claressa Shields and then ran out of steam in round 3 - she would’ve won that fight going away if she didn’t quit in round 3.
A frustrating week considering the plays were some of the best of the year. At one point the nets were -600 live and Elkin would’ve been -1000 if books offered PFL bets live. When playing underdogs you have to factor in some bad luck, but that was a different level even with expected variance.
The bit of good luck that we had was very lucky indeed. Brandon Moreno finished Deiveson Figueiredo in under 2.5 rounds. This cashed our Co-Main Event play of UFC 263 at a whopping +1100. One of the better bets that we have cashed all year long. That one will keep us profitable for a while.
Now we get to the messy NBA, which has more injuries than we could have ever imagined.
The NBA Is A Mess - Don’t Trust Favorites
The NBA is an absolute mess right now. I am not sure that I can recommend any futures bets with star players going down left and right. However, we can still bet on individual games and hope there are no more injuries. Do not bet or parlay favorites right now.
Brooklyn In 6? +198 (FanDuel)
I think the value is good. Do I think that Kevin Durant puts up 50 again? No. Do I think that Jeff Green shoots 7-8 from three again? Nope. However, the Bucks sounded defeated after blowing a 17 point lead in the 3rd quarter.
The Nets need to trust other guys. Joe Harris, Landry Shamet, and James Harden should all be due for some positive regression. I am betting the number here. +198 is too high.

Clippers In 6? +110 (PointsBet)
Donovan Mitchell isn’t healthy, that’s for sure. He looked terrible yesterday and that game was only close because their bench guys were unconscious from 3. They are on the road in this game and Paul George looked great. Home underdog and they might have the best player left in the series. Kawhi is out for the playoffs so be aware of that.

Bowman: 2021 US Open Betting Extravaganza
The US Open is one of the biggest golf tournaments of the year. It is the third of four major championships in a golf season. It is one of the biggest tournaments of the year, so let’s tap on Bill Bowman for his breakdown of the 2020 US Open Championship.
Top 5 Finish Wager? I think YES!
Bowman likes a British man! Nope, not Rory Mcllroy (the favorite). But he does like a fellow countryman, Tyrrell Hatton at +650. We always bet value here at GamingToday. You won’t find many betting sites giving out +650 betting recommendations.
“While we picked Brooks Koepka and Xander Schauffele as two of our picks to win the U.S. Open, we like the chances of Koepka (+126) to beat Schauffele in their matchup. The reasoning is simple as Koepka lives for the majors. End of story.”
- Bill Bowman on a head-to-head matchup between Brooks Koepka and Xander Schauffele.
This head-to-head matchup bet looks like an excellent opportunity. I love this bet, Brooks Koepka is a rock-solid opportunity for a guy with multiple major championship wins.

Ohio Senate Passes Sports Betting Bill; Arizona And Massachusetts Working Hard Towards Legalization
Ohio senate passed sports betting by a landslide 30-2 in favor of legalization. The bill looks much different than it did in the past and even has a twist on how it affects teams in the Buckeye State.
Arizona is doing it right. The state is making rules for sports betting and fantasy sports on Friday and Monday. If you would like to give your two cents on how to properly run the industry, you can! Public meeting times are listed here. Massachusetts is working hard to make sports betting a reality. It has been unsuccessful thus far and is in a much more uncertain spot than Arizona.
MA’s last-ditch effort to get into the market by February 2022 is being worked on in the Senate as we speak. More info to come on GamingToday thanks to Rebecca Hanchett.
