NBA All-Star Weekend, UFC In Vegas, And More
Sports betting news and picks for bettors by bettors
Football season has officially come to a close. Super Bowl 56 was not particularly well-played by either team, and the Bills must be kicking themselves, believing they should have that trophy. My bank account says the same. I had a wager on Bills +1200 preseason.
This week, we are moving forward with the NBA All-Star Game and UFC picks. The USFL launches in April, which I am mildly intrigued by.
UFC 271 was a rousing success last week. The official Gaming Today article went 5-for-6 for +8.99 units. On the newsletter, we hit the +235 parlay, which helped us profit 1.5 units. Between the newsletter and Gaming Today article, you won 10.49 units if you followed it all.
Let’s keep it rolling!
Also in today’s newsletter, we have updates on South Carolina and Maryland as those sports make progress in the sports betting space.
UFC Vegas 48 Picks And Parlay
UFC Vegas 48 Parlay +443: Kyle Daukaus -280 + Clark/Egger Goes To Decision -175 + Jim Miller +155
We hit the parlay last week, although not without a sweat. Jared Cannonier cashed it with his second-round KO win.
This weekend, we’re backing the veteran Jim Miller, who opened as a favorite, per Best Fight Odds, but has been steamed down to wide underdog status. Jim Miller forever.
Abdul Razak Alhassan Wins In Round 1 or 2 +300 (DraftKings)
Alhassan is a scary powerful striker. Lord knows he can’t grapple, so if Joaquin Buckley takes him down, this bet is dead. Buckley showed shoddy cardio in his last fight against Antonio Arroyo, so we could see an Alhassan KO in Round 2. This is my favorite bet of the weekend.

Today In Sports Betting Legalization: South Carolina, Maryland Updates
A South Carolina lawmaker has filed a bill that would legalize sports betting in the state.
As Gaming Today’s Kris Johnson writes, “Bill 3395 specifically mentions ‘sports betting on professional sports’ and it also includes provisions for pari-mutuel betting on horse racing, casino activities such as dice and card games, and games of chance involving the use of electronic devices or gaming tables.”
Meanwhile, five casinos in Maryland opened in-person sports betting in December, but as Gaming Today’s Rebecca Hanchett reports the state isn’t exactly close to launching mobile wagering.
Sportsbook Promotions, February 17: NBA TNT Thursdays
Each week, I search the sports betting market for promotions. Sometimes they are awesome, other times not so much. Rest assured, you will not miss another “no-brainer bet” again.
FanDuel Sportsbook: $25 UFC Parlay Insurance for fights this weekend! If exactly one leg of your parlay loses, you will be refunded the bet up to $25 in site credit. Good luck! Opt-in required.
FanDuel Sportsbook: TNT Thursdays. Every Thursday, FanDuel offers a $10 bonus for any Single Game Parlay bets on Thursday’s NBA games on TNT. This week, it’s 76ers vs. Bucks. Regardless of if your bet wins or loses, you get a $10 bonus!
BetMGM Sportsbook: I have never been one to bet on NASCAR, but I know many are. BetMGM is offering a risk-free bet up to $25 if your Daytona 500 bet loses. Opt-in is required at the promos page, check out the terms and conditions before betting.
NBA Update: All-Star Weekend Props & NBA Championship Update
NBA All-Star Weekend should be glorious in Cleveland. The Cavaliers are having a rebirth season, backed by rookie Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Darius Garland. The weekend is a fun one, but not worth a serious amount of bets.
Check out some of the betting spots I am taking at the link below. My real lean is on the NBA 3-Point Contest.
