Masters Tournament Picks & NY Mobile Betting - Is It For Real?
Betting picks by sports bettors for sports bettors
March concluded, and it ended with a BANG! Literally - the shot heard round the world from the logo. Banked in by Gonzaga’s Terrell Suggs had the entire sports world at its knees. His draft stock skyrocketed during the tournament bringing value back to college sports…
The championship game concluded as predicted with Baylor’s dismantling of the Bulldogs. Too big, too good at shooting, and too dominant for Gonzaga who was never truly tested.
Baylor was +230 to win the tournament this time last week and they ended up cashing that play. A great win was followed by a not-so-great miss on the under 134.5 in the Houston-Baylor game. Another 1-1 week but the plus money win gave us some pizza money for the week…
*Special thanks to Rob Miech for getting us through every March Madness tournament game*
This week we are blessed to have the Masters back in its normal slot in early April. Golf betting has taken off in recent years thanks to its unpredictability and huge odds. The randomness of the weekend makes every hole highly entertaining and pressure-filled.
Gold Jacket? Green Jacket? Who Gives A Hoot - The Masters Are Here!
Be advised, you can bet on every hole of this event and even the popular 3 ball betting. 3 ball betting is when you bet on individual golfers to outperform each other during a single 18-hold round. Don’t limit yourself if you are a golfing fanatic, there are tons of opportunities here.
Pick: Tournament Winning Score: -10 Or Better -136
I’ll throw this as the best bet on the entire tournament. Getting -10 included in this is the cherry on top of a great value play. No Masters winner has had less than -10 since 2017 when Justin Rose won with -9. Those who remember will know that it was a particularly rainy and windy course.
AccuWeather is predicting fairly good weather conditions which makes me confident in this bet. The last four winners have blown -9 out of the water I’d expect that trend to continue - weather permitting.
Pick: Collin Morikawa Top-20 Finish +105
Our golf aficionado Bill Bowman has plenty of betting opportunities this weekend. One of the best ones that I see is Collin Morikawa to finish in the top-20 for the tournament.
Bowman also believes that he could be a dark horse candidate to win the whole thing. More here if you dare…
“The Makeup Call” PointsBet Giving Back A Bet Of Your Choice + More Betting Promotions
So I had some bad bets during the March Madness Tournament. For instance, I bet on UCLA to beat Gonzaga at +750 - the three-pointer by Suggs was brutal. However, PointsBet Sportsbook refunded my bet thanks to their Karma Kommittee.
If you placed 10 or more bets that totaled over $200 in wagers, you can get one bet refunded in free bets. To redeem, all you have to do is tweet the bet with the #KarmaKommittee or email karma@pointsbet.com. Max refund $50. All are welcome to this promotion!
BetMGM Sportsbook is all over the Masters this year. They are boosting any golfer of your choice to win the tournament with a 15% boost. The max bet is $200 but it’s a big deal, to say the least. Get your Speith and DeChambeau bets in over there!
DraftKings Sportsbook is doing a similar promotion as BetMGM. They are giving a DAILY 20% profit boost on all golf bets this week. It is only a profit boost so this isn’t at the same level as BetMGM and there are limits. A max bet of $50 and a max of $250 in additional winnings.
You must opt-in at the DraftKings promos page. All of the other terms and conditions are listed there but this also includes parlays (must all be golf).
NBA Futures: Brooklyn Nets At +260 Is The Best Value In Sports + DPOY Bet
I have been on Brooklyn all season - since before the James Harden trade. And now they have James Harden, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge, and a healthy Kevin Durant. The Lakers are not healthy, the Clippers don’t have much outside of Kawhi Leonard - no one can compete with this team.
I think the case can be made that they should be -110. The Brooklyn Nets might be the most dominant NBA team we have seen since Shaq and Kobe. I’d bet this way down to +150 - and do it comfortably.
Ben Simmons to win the Defensive Player Of The Year is scattered across the industry. DraftKings Sportsbook has him at +200 to win the award whereas PointsBet Sportsbook has him at +500.
Rudy Gobert has a lot less to deal with than Ben Simmons does. He is my Defensive Player Of the Year and at +500 - how can you go wrong?
New York Sports Betting Is Close - But Still A Mess + More In The (Sports) Business World
Well, the sports betting world has been on pins and needles working to get New York sports betting live. It appears closer but there is no denying that this situation has taken on a lot more chaos than needed.
Rebecca Hanchett has been on this story since the jump for us and she’s making light of a weird situation. She projects that New York mobile sports betting should go live sometime during the football season. Undoubtedly New York will want to make sure that they get a piece of football season.
You may not have heard of theScore Sportsbook but they are making some noise in the industry. Chris Gerlacher gave us some interesting insight into a TV show-turned sportsbook. Direct quotes and interview from Chris with the President of the theScore himself, Benjie Levy, in our exclusive conversation about the developing industry…
I will have NFL draft content coming your way shortly and yes - you can bet on that too… So get your thinking caps on - cause the trades are going to affect every way we move (and bet) on April 29th.
