Gaming Today Playbook: UFC Fight Night | Northern Trust Betting | Big Betting Business
Sports betting picks by sports bettors for sports bettors.
I hope you all took advantage of that Field of Dreams bonus from FanDuel last week! An absolutely wild game that resulted in SIX home runs and a crazy spectacle. Bravo, MLB. If you used the existing user promotion that we discussed you have a healthy $30 in free bets to use.
Thankfully, we have some UFC and PFL fights to look at this week. I will give my breakdown of some of the fights and some betting picks. Overall, we have been killing UFC bets so let’s keep that moving!
Finally, I teased an interview last week with the CEO of SimpleBet -- Chris Bevilacqua. That is officially live on Gaming Today--read the full piece here.
UFC Fight Night And PFL Betting Analysis And Picks
PFL Playoffs 2: Genah Fabian ML +1500 (DraftKings)
This fight is tonight, so get your bets in soon. For those who are unfamiliar with Genah Fabian, she is an extremely legitimate fighter. She is much bigger than Kayla Harrison and should have a significant advantage in the striking department. We have yet to see her grappling defense, which is why she is an unfathomable 15:1 underdog. However, getting the bigger, unproven fighter, with a striking advantage is more than enough for a stab. Everyone should be on Fabian tonight. +1500 is unlikely to last; PointsBet has it at +900 and FanDuel at +1100.
UFC Fight Night: Mark Madson via decision +125 (FanDuel)
Make no mistake, I love Clay Guida. My issue with him in this fight is his ways to win are near non-existent. He really struggles against high quality wrestlers, which Madson is. He is a dominant wrestler (silver medal Olympic wrestler). He also is undefeated in MMA. Guida is extremely durable so I would expect him to avoid knockouts very well and Madson is more of a wrestler than a submission grappler.
UFC Fight Night Main Event: Kelvin Gastelum Round 4, 5 or by Decision +175 (PointsBet)
Ah, this fight is so interesting. Cannonier’s top win condition is by KO. But what do you do if you can’t land a knockout against someone who has never been knocked out? Cannonier will have a significant size advantage, but Gastelum wasn’t knocked out by Israel Adesanya. If Izzy can’t do it, why should I think Cannonier can? Finally, Gastelum has a huge grappling advantage, he should be able to win this one as Cannonier gets tired. I highly recommend a live bet on Gastelum after the first and second rounds. Every minute that passes after round one favors Gastelum.
Bowman: 2021 Northern Trust Expert Analysis & Odds
Right in my backyard, the PGA Tour takes on Jersey City, NJ. our golf expert, Bill Bowman has plenty more to say about this weekend's Northern Trust tournament. Importantly, the underdog potential that this tournament brings with so many top performers locked into the next round.
Harris English +3300
Looking for an underdog play? Golf can be profitable and we all know it. This is a great opportunity to bet on an underdog.
Bowman suggests English because of his strong play of late. Bowman explains that English nearly won the tournament two weeks ago but he squandered a lead. He says: “squandering a three-shot lead on the back nine and winding up solo fourth, one shot out of the three-man playoff.”
This is just one underdog play that our golf expert sees value on. For more information about potential favorites and a whole lot more, check it out here.

New Yorkers rejoice, sports betting is coming! Getting regulatory approval is extremely difficult and there are many hurdles that constantly arise; ask Michigan and Maryland.
